If there’s anything that symbolizes the mid 2000’s, its GMC’s Hummer. A status symbol at the time, it has now fallen from grace, only to be ridiculed as the go to vehicle for so called ‘dudebros’. Not anymore though, because the Hummer is making a comeback, and just like its predecessor, it is a symbol of our times.
This resurrection is completely electric pickup truck and boasts a 350 mile range on a single charge, powered by three electric motors spitting 1000 horsepower, and a ‘CrabWalk mode’ that enables it to move diagonally to get you out of tricky terrain.
It is, without a doubt, very high tech. The Super Cruise function allows for hands free driving and automatic lane changing on more than 200,000 miles of open roads and counting. The Hummer EV also hosts a 14-speaker Bose sound system with Electric Vehicle Sound Enhancement, designed especially for this edition.
One of the other fantastic features is called Watts to Freedom (cheeky, right) and is a launch control mode that enables it to reach 60 mph in a mere 3 seconds. WTF indeed.
However, off road is where we expect the Hummer EV to truly shine. The combination of 35 inch tires coupled with four-wheel independent suspension should be enough to get you through most terrain. The suspension can be adjusted up to 6 inches in ‘Extract Mode’, thereby increasing ride height. It also lowers automatically at high speeds to increase aerodynamic efficiency.
The removable roof and transparent sky panels will offer the perfect views while crossing undiscovered lands, making this the perfect companion for exploration. The first edition is expected to release in Fall 2021 and starts at 112,595 dollars, a reasonable price for eco-friendly adventures.
