Aston Martin has begun its first foray into motorcycles with the AMB001, a state of the art limited edition racetrack bike created in collaboration with English bikemaker Brough superior, often referred to as the Rolls Royce of motorcycles.
Designed and engineered for the race track, a prototype bike has recently been taken to the Pau Arnos track in France to undergo a comprehensive testing programme prior to release. The feedback from the test rider will be used to tweak the design for increased performance before beginning production in autumn at the Brough Superior factory in Toulouse, France. While the track testing will be primarily focused on the chassis, Aston martin says engine bench testing will take place in parallel in order to streamline the development process.
“One of the key design features of the AMB001 is an aluminium fin that runs along the full length of the carbon fibre tank, passing under the saddle and out onto the rear.”, says Brough Superior CEO Thierry Henriette. The imposing radiator with its wide intake manifold gives the V-twin a supercar engine appearance. Put together, this design gives the bike the fluid, sleek, and aerodynamic visage unique to Aston Martin.
The AMB001 is powered by a turbo charged engine producing 180 horsepower in output. Strictly limited to 100 examples, the bike has a price tag of 108,00 euros (445,000 AED) and is on schedule for deliveries at the end of this year.
