GMC Acadia All Terrain

GMC has always had a reputation for their huge pickup trucks and oversized SUV’s. Funnily enough, the reasons a lot of people dislike American SUV’s are also the reasons the fans love them. GMC has tried to bridge that gap with the brand new Acadia All Terrain, creating something that’s meant to meet both groups halfway.. The new Acadia has something for everyone. Sure, this isn’t a vehicle that you would fall in love with at first sight, but it will leave you more than satisfied. With a 3.6L V6 engine hiding under the hood, the Acadia does justice to its GMC SUV brethren. The fuel efficiency is rather good when compared to other American SUVs, which have a reputation for being fuel guzzlers; we were able to get a comfortable 400 kilometers, with half a tank left to go. The Acadia can be set to 5 different driving modes-  2WD, AWD, Sport, Terrain, and trolley mode. We tested it on 3 different terrains- road, desert, and mountain. The drive on the road is as smooth as you could imagine, with silent interiors despite the powerful engine. The mountain drive was our favourite part, as the car’s strong handling and power came in handy while driving up and down winding mountain roads, giving us a feeling of complete control. The desert mode, however, leaves room for improvement. Perhaps our expectations were too high, but we found it hard to control the vehicle on sand. It handles well on the small dunes, but struggles a bit on the larger ones. This could also be alluded to the fact that we’re not exactly experts when it comes to desert driving, so take our opinion with a grain of salt.

As far as aesthetics go, the new Acadia is rather similar to the 2017 version. The Acadia underwent a design change in 2017 and the designers have decided to stick with the same design for 2018, which we feel was a wise decision.  It’s quite sleek, giving it an almost compact feel despite the fact that the vehicle is almost the same size as last year’s. It does not feel as bulky as its 2016 iteration and seems well balanced throughout, at least in terms of weight distribution, offering better control on rough terrain. The interiors are rather rudimentary, with hard plastics and fiber furnishings, typical of an American SUV. The dashboard features a touch screen with a number of Audio inputs and an additional display screen on the speedometer, a feature that is becoming increasingly common among sedans and SUV’s alike. This is a fantastic every day car for the family and can comfortably seat seven people, driver included, with plenty of legroom and an incredibly spacious trunk. The Bose speakers are a wonderful addition to the already superb sound system, a rare feature for a family car.

The reliability and comfort of this SUV is unmatched for its price range, which lies between 120000 and 150000 AED. As we’d mentioned before, this is not a vehicle that you’ll fall in love with at first sight. This is something you’ll grow to love. It won’t offer you a passionate summer romance, but a very stable marriage. If that’s what you’re looking for, then this is the ideal ride for you.
