Honda Accord and The Honda Goldwing touring motorcycle launch in Dubai 2018

We attended the launch of the accord earlier this month and we’ll admit, the specs look pretty impressive. In addition to the accord, Honda also released the 2018 Goldwing touring motorcycle on the same day. The event included several keynote speakers such as Junji Yamano, the Chief Engineer and Global Development Leader of Honda R&D, and Anup Ravindranath, the General Manager of Business Development & Marketing for Honda Motor Co. (MENA region).

Before we get into the specifications of the new releases, we’d like to talk about their appearance and aesthetics. The new 2018 Accord seems a more evolved version of the 2017 Accord, at least in terms of design. The similarities are noticeable, but the new accord seems a lot sturdier as it has a bit of American Muscle thrown in, while maintaining the sleekness endemic to all Japanese vehicles. We assume that the designers wanted a versatile sedan that could be marketed to both 20 something’s and the older generations who have been loyal to the Honda brand for decades. This is something a lot of automotive companies have tried and failed at over and over again, yet Honda has pulled it off beautifully. Its design is a lot more subtle, which we personally liked a lot more than the earlier sharp edge design of its older brother. Honda will be giving us the New Accord which we are eagerly waiting for. Stay tuned to our site for a detailed review.

The Goldwing Tour, is comfortably sized, as opposed to similar touring vehicles in a market that seems saturated by ultra-massive motorcycles. This is a true gentleman’s tourer, exercising subtlety without compromising on power, similar to its 4 wheeled cousin mentioned earlier.

Specifications:

The Accords’ body is made of 29 percent ultra-high strength steel, the highest ever for a mass produced Honda, and is lighter by 10 kgs with increased rigidity. The vehicle is powered by a 1.5 liter direct injected VTEC Turbo with dual Variable Timing Control. It is also available with a 2.0 liter engine and 10 speed automatic transmissions.  The 1.5 litre engine boasts a mileage of 18.4 km/L and the 2.0 litre engine would give you 14.3 km/L. We will mention more specifications in the upcoming review.

The Goldwing engine is a liquid cooled 4-stroke 24 valve machine with a displacement of 1833 cc and a maximum torque of 4500 rpm. The Goldwing holds a 21.1 liter fuel tank and consumes 5.6 litres/100 km.
