MG under the patronage of Inter Emirates motors right has taken the UAE automotive market by storm with its range of affordable vehicles that provide incredible value for money. They have surprised us again with the MG GT, a sleek and sporty offering that offers everything you’d need for a daily drive and more. We were fortunate enough to get our hands on the new GT and see upfront exactly what it offers.
Aesthetically, the car is beyond beautiful. It looks premium, and almost luxurious when compared with its counterparts in its price range and above. The chrome lining that runs across the car and over the windows add a perfect finishing touch to its overall appearance.
The interiors reflect the sporty feel of the exteriors while maintaining plenty of room. For an entry level sedan, it is incredibly spacious with ample legroom. The infotainment system is as good as what you’d expect from a premium brand. It also features lane disciple indicators and front collision indicators in addition to a 360-degree camera.
The GT is powered by a 1.5L engine, and can reach 100km/h in 8 seconds. The acceleration is probably the best we’ve experienced among entry level sedans, especially when compared with the Toyota Corolla or the Nissan Sentra.
However, not all that shines is gold. The GT does have a few drawbacks. The interiors do have quite a bit of hard plastics, and most of the control buttons are hard and require a little more force than usual to activate. The cool dual exhausts are merely there for aesthetic reasons and the actual exhaust pipe is a little to the centre, conveniently tucked away from view.
All things said, this MG GT offers the best value for money in its price range and is perfect for those who want a vehicle that provides the best of everything they would need from a car without breaking the bank.
